About Me

Hi, I’m Tommy.

I love to make.

That started with LEGO. Building, breaking, and rebuilding anything I could get my grubby hands on which evolved into a career helping others at Microsoft. I’m a Partner Solutions Architect, where I work with partners to design and build secure, large-scale distributed systems on Azure and Kubernetes. That seems fancy, but I really just draw boxes and lines and wave my hand around and say the words “cloud native” a lot.

My path has been anything but linear: from late nights hacking on a Commodore 64, to contributing to the development of SMS/text messaging, to leading technical teams at a startup, to architecting infrastructure at Yahoo! Along the way, I developed a knack for turning ideas into real systems and helping others along the way.

Outside of work (and often overlapping with it), I spend my free time builder however I can. I’ve designed everything from a LEGO Robo-Clippy to LED wearables to chaotic AI experiments, and brought those creations into the world through maker communities like TheLab.ms and was even on the Day 3 Keynote of Build 2025. I was on Dude Perfect as a trebuchet expert and competed in the Red Bull Soapbox Race, because sometimes the best way to learn is to just build something ridiculous and see what happens.

Also, if there’s music playing nearby, there’s a good chance I’m on the dance floor. My style has been described (generously) as “a salad shooter and a toaster competing for electricity.” But that’s okay. I make sure my parter and I are always smiling.
